Time Well Spent
At Gusbourne, we present an authentic reflection of a time and place in each of our bottles, by producing exclusively vintage wines that are unique to each growing season. Inspired by this ethos of making the most of time, we’ve put together a collection of tips, tricks and interesting reads to help you make the most of your Time Well Spent.
We’ve joined forces with selected partners with whom we already share certain values – creativity, independent thinking and true craftsmanship – as part of an exchange of knowledge and insights that we have shared here. You can also explore the perfect pairing of takeaway food with our wines, inspiring recipes from the kitchens of partners such as The Langham London, and thought-provoking conversations with partners such as Bremont, Gieves & Hawkes and Penhaligon’s. New Release: Blanc de Blancs 2016
Quietly acknowledged as a strong vintage year for English Sparkling Wine, 2016 will be remembered for its warm, sun-filled summer and autumn days. Ideal conditions for producing fruit of outstanding quality at Gusbourne’s vineyards in Kent and West Sussex.
Why We Blind Taste Our Base Wines
A lot happens to a Gusbourne wine in its journey from harvest to bottle. One important stage is putting our base wines to the test. Each year our winemaking team blind tastes and meticulously analyses every wine before deciding the carefully crafted blends that each of our labels will carry. It’s a fascinating process that takes skill, experience and the ability to imagine a wine’s potential in every vintage year.
How to Make Cocktails with English Sparkling Wine
Does English sparkling wine work in cocktails? Marco Corallo, a former sommelier and now award-winning mixologist and Head Bartender of Artesian at The Langham, thinks so. It’s all about balance and letting your ingredients work together.
Festive Menu Pairing
Sparkling wines can be just as perfect a pairing with food as still wines, and with our range of sparkling and still options available on the website, there is more choice than ever before to pair with your Christmas meal. Ronan Sayburn MS, Head of Wine at 67 Pall Mall, has prepared a selection of indulgent festive menu pairings to inspire you.
The Secrets of Christmas Gift-Giving
For anyone worried about last-minute present-buying, or if the guaranteed-by-Xmas delivery van doesn't deliver on time, relax. History is on your side. Gift-giving on Christmas Day is quite a new confection. Until 200 years ago, the big event was January 6th.
Christmas Country Customs
It's different this year for everyone. But while we inevitably remember Christmases past, with many festive gatherings off limits this year, let's not succumb to contemplating just glum pudding. Pictures of togetherness and joy persist, and a more hopeful year waits around the corner. At Gusbourne we truly wish all of you the best of times.
Producing Only The Finest Still Wines
At Gusbourne, we are known for making some of England's finest sparkling wines, so perhaps it's surprising to learn that we also make still wine – but not every year.
To Decant Or Not To Decant
People seem to enjoy a bit of theatrical decanting. A waistcoated waiter flamboyantly pouring a noble red from on high, not into just one crystal vessel but a series of decorous decanters, each more elaborate than the last, and not a drop spilled upon the linen. Well, is it anything more than showtime?
We have been reflecting on our past vintages - how they change, develop and the contrasts as well as similarities between them. Our Pinot Noir 2016 and Blanc de Noirs 2016 provide a unique comparison between a still and sparkling Pinot Noir, as well as excellent examples of the 2016 vintage.
