The membership is fully prepaid — no payment details are needed from them, and no automatic renewals. After a year, they can choose to renew.

Manage and activate your membership gift
How long is a membership gift card valid for?
It is valid for 6 months from the date of purchase. You can check the validity and balance of your membership gift card by entering its unique number here.
Can I choose when the membership starts?
The 12-month membership begins from the date the recipient activates their gift card, not from the purchase date.
How does it work?
Once you have purchased a membership gift online, you will receive a confirmation email for your order.
Within 5 working days, we will send the following to your nominated recipient:
- A card with your personalised gift message (you will be prompted to add this at checkout)
- A membership gift card with a unique code, which will be needed to activate the membership on this page: https://www.gusbourne.com/membership
The membership is valid for a 12-month period and will not renew automatically. After a year, your recipient can choose to renew their membership if they wish.
If you would like to keep the gift a surprise, please use your own details when purchasing. You can then personally give the membership gift card and message to your recipient to redeem in their own time (within 6 months).
Can I have the membership gift card sent directly to me instead of the recipient?
Yes. Simply enter your own name and address at checkout, and we’ll post the membership gift pack to you so you can give it in person.
Can I include a personal message with the gift?
Yes. You’ll be prompted to add a personal message at checkout, which we’ll print inside the gift card sent to your recipient.
Do you offer digital or e-gift cards?
At present, membership gift cards are sent by post. We’re not currently able to offer digital or downloadable versions.
Can I buy more than one membership gift card at once?
Yes. You can purchase multiple gift memberships in a single order. Each will be supplied with its own unique code and message card.
Can I use an Explored Gift Membership to partially pay for a Collectors Membership?
Unfortunately, this isn’t possible.
Can I use my gift membership card to purchase wine?
Your membership includes a year of wine deliveries, but the gift card cannot be used to purchase wine separately.
How do I activate my gift membership?
You can activate your gift membership at any time within 6 months of purchase by selecting the relevant membership on this page:

Will the recipient receive any renewal reminders?
Yes. We’ll contact the member near the end of their 12-month membership to offer the option of renewal.
Can the membership gift card be extended beyond 6 months?
Gift cards must be activated within 6 months of purchase. We’re not able to extend expiry dates, so please encourage your recipient to activate their membership in good time.
Is the membership gift card transferable?
The membership gift card can be given to anyone you choose, but once activated it becomes linked to the named member and cannot be transferred.
What happens if the recipient moves abroad?
Memberships are designed for UK delivery and event access. If a recipient relocates outside the UK, please contact us to discuss alternative arrangements for deliveries.
I’ve lost my gift membership card. Can you help?
We’ll do our best. Please email membership@gusbourne.com with the following details:
- Your name
- The name and/or email address of the person who sent you the gift membership
- The month and year it was purchased

What happens if I need a refund for a gift membership card purchase?
We can offer a refund to the card used for purchase if:
- The membership code has not been redeemed, and
- No more than 7 days have passed since the purchase date.
