Harvest is one of the most exciting times to visit our vineyards and these Estate Tours come with a twist, as we seek out opportunities for our guests to step behind the scenes and see what happens at Gusbourne during this crucially important time in the annual cycle of the Estate.
During your tour, you may be able to taste our concentrated, ripe grapes straight from the vine before the bunches are picked and sent to the winery for pressing. Our pickers may be in action where you can observe them working their way down rows of vines, picking each and every bunch of grapes by hand. Then, as you head back to The Nest for your lunch and tasting, you may see the grapes coming into the winery fresh from the vineyards and even taste some of the juice straight from the press. This juice will become Gusbourne’s 2023 vintage wines.
The format of these tours is based on our regular Estate Tour, in which you'll arrive for a hosted tour of the vineyards and winery, followed by a tutored tasting in the Nest, including some special wines that don’t feature in our standard hosted tour. We will then serve lunch, a full three-course lunch with wine pairings.
You can find our Harvest Estate Tours on the below dates in our booking calendar:
Please note, harvest at Gusbourne takes place under the watchful eye of our Chief Vineyard Manager whose skilled assessment determines when it's the optimum time to pick grapes in each of our vineyards. We don't pick grapes in unfavourable weather and are unable to guarantee that you will be able to experience all of these harvest activities during your visit, due to the variability of nature and its effect on processes in the vineyard and winery.
