Chardonnay Guinevere Twenty Eighteen
Limited Library Release
The 2018 captures all the hallmarks of a barrel-fermented cool-climate Chardonnay. Chablis-esque in its precision, yet unmistakably English in character, it shows a generosity of rich, ripe fruit. Brimming bright gold, it offers an enticing nose of citrus, elegant stone fruit, and buttered brioche. A linear purity dominates the palate, seamlessly balanced with creamy oak notes of candied citrus and oatmeal. Complex, multi-layered, and deeply expressive.

TASTING NOTES
This Library Release wine has been gently maturing in our cellars. On the nose it has vibrant fruit, with ripe citrus, green apple and nectarine aromas, alongside some subtle spice and toasted notes. On the palate, the wine feels rich and opulent, with ripe stone and citrus fruits, yellow apple, camomile, alongside more complex notes of buttered toast and sweet spice, leading to a salty, mineral freshness on the finish.
ABOUT THE 2018 VINTAGE
Good levels of winter rainfall left the soil in optimum condition for the upcoming season. Bud burst in mid-April was followed by a period of abundant warmth and early flowering in June. In early August the fruit was thinned, and 50% dropped, to intensify flavour and concentration as well as ensure optimum quality. Warmth and sunshine from June to September meant the fruit was of an outstanding quality and picked at the perfect time.
