Our vineyard and winemaking teams worked hard all year – and adapted to new ways of working. We welcomed guests and partners back to The Nest. We released new vintages and nurtured our 2021 fruit through a successful harvest. Some would say business as usual – albeit in an unusual year.

A highlight of 2021 for us was gaining our Sustainable Wines of Great Britain accreditation. As a founding member of SWGB, we’ve been quietly examining everything we do at Gusbourne to remain a sustainable winemaker and continue to innovate and improve from the soil up.

We welcomed many visitors to The Nest as UK staycationers explored the Wine Garden of England. People came from all over the country to discover the area’s history, taste some outstanding Kentish produce and take a tour of our vineyards – coming to know what we mean when we say that craft is in our nature.

Looking ahead to 2022, we’ll be releasing some exciting new wines and vintages, hosting more tours and tastings and bringing back a full schedule of Michelin-starred dining events at The Nest. We'll be collaborating with great British chefs on lunches and dinners like the ones we hosted with the teams from The Hand & Flowers and Restaurant Story, as well as events in the vineyards with local food producers from around Kent and Sussex.

In the background, our vineyard team will be getting on with nurturing the vines ahead of next year’s harvest while the winemaking team tastes, tests and blends our most recent one. All the time being guided by the words of Gusbourne’s founder, Andrew Weeber: “Making exceptional wine takes craftsmanship, respect for nature and uncompromising attention to detail.” Words that have stood by us from day one, year after vintage year.

So from Charlie, Jon, Laura, and the rest of the team here at Gusbourne, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year full of family, friends, feasts and fun.
