To celebrate 20 years since our first vines were planted, we’ve created a Blanc de Blancs vertical tasting case.

Mary Bridges, our Head Winemaker, and Laura Rhys, Master Sommelier, re-tasted each bottle in this line-up in January 2024. You can find their full tasting notes below.

Gusbourne Blanc de Blancs 2014

Light golden with a delicate mousse, this beautifully mature wine has a nose of peach and sesame, orange-driven citrus notes, along with ripe pear and melon. The palate is equally lush and exciting with yellow apple, vanilla, ginger and pithy tangerine. The use of oak here adds further detail and complexity with notes of vanilla, crème pâtissière and custard tart. The finish is round and creamy with good length.

In the glass this is golden in colour with a fascinating nose of green apple, citrus and tart pineapple alongside notes of tea leaf, dried Mediterranean herbs, struck flint and woody aromatics. The palate is lean and bright but also generous. There are flavours of baked lemons, soft green apples, peach melba, mixed nuts and baked bread. The finish is complex and notable with good length.

Gusbourne Blanc de Blancs 2016

This is the first vintage of our Blanc de Blancs to include fruit from Selhurst Park vineyard in Sussex. The nose here is honeyed and tropical, with citrus and yellow apple alongside rich buttery pastry, sweet spice, vanilla, nutmeg and pain au raisin. The palate is every bit as rewarding with intensity and richness, ripe citrus, stone fruit and almonds. This is very poised, with weight and freshness, lovely length and elegance.

This is an elegant pale gold with fine bubbles. The nose is wonderfully enticing, with notes of creamy butterscotch, lemon fool, lime blossom, yellow apple and pear, with a hint of dried tropical fruit. There’s a chalky character there too. On the palate, there’s a vibrant array of flavours such as sherbet, green mango, peach and pear. This is a vibrant, fresh and energising wine which is beautifully balanced with a long, complex finish.

The palate is vibrant, intense and complex, with a lingering mineral note and a long, elegant finish.

Gusbourne Blanc de Blancs 2019

Pale gold in colour with a fine, persistent mousse. The nose brims with bright citrus notes of ripe lemon and orange peel, along with green apple and Williams pear. On the palate, the wine is focused and elegant, driven by more citrus and orchard fruits, with stone fruit notes of white peach. The fruit sits alongside a richer, pâtisserie character of toasted nuts, brioche and lemon meringue pie. The mouthfeel is linear and fresh, leading to a zesty mineral note on the long finish.
