We're delighted to offer the opportunity to taste our award-winning Blanc de Blancs from across the vintages with our Ambassador Steve Kirkham. Steve brings a wealth of experience from over three decades of wine service in some of the country’s most prestigious wine merchants and Michelin-starred restaurants.
At this event, you will be seated overlooking the vineyards while you taste through a flight of Blanc de Blancs - from the expressive, cellar-aged 2013 vintage, through to our Head Winemaker's personal favourite from 2016, which we have paired with local oysters. Vertical tastings are the best way of comparing vintages side by side and gaining an in-depth understanding of how vineyard conditions from any given year can influence the wine. As well as this, Steve will walk you through how these wines have developed over different periods of bottle ageing and how to lay bottles down at home. A three-course seasonal lunch will follow your masterclass, each paired with our wines.
On arrival at 11am, you will be welcomed with an aperitif before commencing the masterclass and lunch. We expect the day to be concluded by 2.30pm, but please feel free to enjoy a late afternoon vineyard stroll through the vineyards after your lunch. We recommend making any taxi arrangements in advance.

About Steve Kirkam, Gusbourne Ambassador:
Steve began his career in wine in 1982 at Oddbins Wine Merchants in his hometown of Tunbridge Wells. There, he progressed through management to become Assistant Buyer and later the New Business Manager.
In 1999, a Master of Wine suggested he become a Sommelier and so he joined Conran Restaurants and subsequently the Gordon Ramsay Group and The Don in The City. Steve became Head Sommelier at the 3 AA Rosette Great Eastern Hotel at Liverpool Street and was with Angela Hartnett at The Connaught when she gained her first Michelin Star. While there, he was nominated for Harper’s & Queen ‘Sommelier of the Year’.
Steve has most recently been the Wine, Beer and Spirit buyer for the Royal Automobile Club in Pall Mall and Epsom. A keen follower of the exciting progress of English wines over the years and having chosen Gusbourne to be the premium quality English wine at the RAC, Steve joined Gusbourne as Ambassador in 2021. He brings his wide experience, passion and enthusiasm for English wines to support our Global Ambassador, Laura Rhys MS in the UK and abroad.
