Gusbourne x Hrishikesh Desai of Farlam Hall, Saturday 21st September 2024

On Saturday 21st September 2024, we’re delighted to kick off the 2024 Chef Series in Michelin-star style with Hrishikesh Desai, Chef Patron of the Cedar Tree at Farlam Hall. Desai's four-course menu will reflect his love of British cuisine: expect fine local ingredients (think scallops, beef and raspberries) showcased alongside superb wine pairings.

Desai has forged his career in some of the world’s best kitchens, including the three-star French Laundry in Napa Valley, California. Reaching the finals of The BBC’s Great British Menu increased his reputation, showcasing his fine classic techniques alongside and refining his love of “surprising British cuisine”, often with an Indian influence. Desai is flying high right now: just a year after becoming Chef Patron at the Cedar Tree, he was awarded his first Michelin star. There’s never been a more exciting time to enjoy Desai’s cooking.

For this Chef Series event, Desai’s four-course menu is nothing short of sensational. Think scallops, tandoori Cumberland beef Wellington, Farlam Hall raspberries – fine British ingredients showcased in mouth-watering style. Each dish will be partnered with a fitting Gusbourne wine, chosen to make the flavours absolutely sing.
Available sittings: Saturday 21st September 2024, lunch, 12noon to 3.30pm, £155; dinner, 6pm to 9.30pm, £165

Gusbourne x Richard Craven, Friday 25th October

On Friday 25th October, we'll be welcoming chef Richard Craven of Michelin-starred restaurant The Royal Oak. The evening event will showcase autumn's bounty, with British game and foraged ingredients on the four-course menu. As with all our Chef Series events, we'll be delving into the Gusbourne cellars to find some truly special wines.

Richard and Solanche at The Royal Oak Whatcote expertly tread the line between the best that a British pub can offer and expectation-redefining, Michelin-star food.

Their philosophy is micro-seasonal. So much so, that we can’t confirm a menu ahead of time – but, as food critic Marina O'Loughlin puts it, “In Richard and Solanche's world, you're in the safest of hands”.

You can expect dishes which highlight foraged ingredients alongside locally sourced wild game, perhaps deer or rabbit.

Once the four courses are confirmed, our expert team will explore the cellars to select wines that balance and enhance the rich, sweet and earthy characteristics which so many autumn ingredients share.
Available sittings: Friday 25th October, dinner, 6pm to 9.30pm, £165

Gusbourne x Tom Shepherd of Upstairs, Saturday 7th December 2024

On Saturday 7th December, we conclude our 2024 Chef Series with Tom Shepherd of Michelin-star restaurant Upstairs. Chef Shepherd has worked in some of the country's most storied kitchens, including two-Michelin star Sat Bains. His food majors on locally sourced, gloriously fresh fish; this four-course meal promises to be a seasonal, British treat.

In Litchfield, just north of Birmingham, you’ll find chef Tom Shepherd’s Michelin-star restaurant set above his father’s jewellery shop. For his collaboration with Gusbourne, Chef Shepherd will be bringing his detail-focused, seasonal approach to our estate in Appledore, Kent.

Shepherd works with the best British ingredients, from Orkney scallops to Cornish cod; his touch is light and his food precise and flavourful.

For this experience at Gusbourne, you’ll enjoy specially created canapés to set the tone. We’ll then sit down to a spectacular four-course feast, partnered by gems from the Gusbourne cellars. As many of our wines work incredibly well alongside delicate dishes and seafood, this promises to be a harmonious event.

Available sittings: Saturday 7th December 2024, lunch, 12noon to 3.30pm, £155; dinner, 6pm to 9.30pm, £165
