Gusbourne awarded IWSC 'English Wine Producer Of The Year' for the third time in the past five years.
Now in its 48th year, the International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC) remains as relevant today as when the competition was established in 1969.
Entries are received from nearly 90 countries worldwide with each wine judged at a permanent onsite cellar by over 400 global experts judging products for seven months of the year. All medal winners are put through a second round of chemical and microbiological analysis.
This obsessive approach is familiar to us all at Gusbourne. The attention to detail put into the judging of the wines is matched by our own attention to the smallest details in producing our wine. This approach is summarised by our Winemaker, Charlie Holland:
“AT GUSBOURNE WE EMBRACE TRADITION BUT READILY CHALLENGE CONVENTION EVEN TO MAKE WHAT MIGHT SEEM LIKE VERY SMALL DIFFERENCES TO THE FINISHED WINE. ATTENTION TO DETAIL IS OFTEN THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GREAT AND EXCEPTIONAL.”
The culmination of the rigorous IWSC judging process, sees all gold medal winners put forward for regional trophy awards. These trophy winners were announced at a glittering gala dinner hosted at Guildhall in London this week.
Honoured to be the only three-time winner of this award, recognition of this kind serves only to strengthen our unwavering commitment to create exceptional English sparkling wine.
