An exciting project, which has been gracefully ageing in our cellars, was finally unveiled this week.
Some time ago we began talking to Berry Bros. & Rudd about helping to create the first ever English Sparkling Wine to carry their own name. This is the first time Berry Bros. & Rudd have selected an English wine for their own label selection.
As England’s oldest wine merchant, with a reputation built on absolute quality, we became privileged partners.
The wine is a Blanc de Blancs from our 2011 vintage which was part barrel-fermented. The wine was disgorged in mid 2014 to Berry’s specification, with input from our winemaker Charlie Holland, to achieve the perfect dosage for this cuvée.
Quite distinct in style, 2011 was a forward vintage with very ripe mouthfeel, but with the quintessential orange citrus notes we have come to recognise as a unique terroir trait in our chardonnay.
