Join Laura Rhys, Master Sommelier and Gusbourne Global Ambassador, to discover the art of blending and for the first time, gain a behind the scenes look at the processes that go into creating our award-winning wines. You will even have the opportunity to put together your very own blend.

At this event, you'll be based in our cosy tasting room that overlooks the vines as Laura guides you through how the different varieties and clones that we grow throughout our vineyards can produce an array of different blending components from each year. Hone in your senses with a breakdown of the different flavours and characteristics that you will find in our finished wines before piecing them back together through blending a selection of our 2021 base wines to create your very own unique and final blend. Compare your creation with a preview of our very own 2021 final blend which will be exclusively prepared for you by Laura and Charlie. Your day will conclude with a complimentary glass of Blanc de Blancs 2016, enjoyed with lunch.

Please note that tasting base wines in their infancy offers a different tasting experience to the final product and so these wines will showcase much higher acidity than from the final wine, which will undergo a second fermentation and lees ageing over the course of a few years. This experience is intended for educational purposes and is well suited to guests who wish to learn the art of blending and winemaking in a beautiful setting. Spaces are limited to a total of 12 guests to allow for an inclusive experience.

On arrival at 11am, you will be welcomed by Laura with an aperitif before being seated for your masterclass and lunch. We expect the day to be concluded by 2:30pm. We recommend making any taxi arrangements in advance.

This event takes place on Saturday, 19th March 2022 and is priced at £125 per ticket. 

About Laura

Laura achieved Master Sommelier status from the Court of Master Sommeliers in 2010, joining only a handful in the world, of which only 34 are women. She brings with her a wealth of knowledge having worked as a sommelier in some of the finest establishments in the UK and through over 10 years of judging national and international wine competitions, as well as her six years with Gusbourne. Laura works closely with Head Winemaker Charlie Holland in crafting the blends for our wines each year.
