Pizza and sparkling wine is a great combination. There's something about the vibrant acidity and the bubbles which combine beautifully with silky, rich mozzarella cheese and fresh tomato. We're delighted to bring local pizza specialist, Martino's, to Gusbourne for one very special day on Saturday, 17th July 2021.
Choose your arrival time (either 12pm, 1pm or 3pm) when booking, and on the day, you'll be seated at your own table overlooking our Boot Hill vineyard, and served a glass of our classic Brut Reserve. You'll then have the choice of one of Martino's superb handmade pizzas from the selection below:
Marinara (vegan) - San Marzano tomato, garlic, capers, olives, oregano, fresh basil.
Margherita (no meat) - San Marzano tomato, mozzarella, parmesan, fresh basil.
Salame (meat) - San Marzano tomato, mozzarella, spicy Italian salami and chorizo.
Napoli (fish) - San Marzano tomato, mozzarella, anchovies, capers, oregano, garlic.
We'll be happy to offer tastings of our other wines, both still and sparkling, and you are welcome to purchase these by the glass or by the bottle, either to share at your table as you while away the afternoon, or to take away with you.
Based in Hastings, Martino's make real, authentic, Napoli style pizza - the chef grew up in Italy and has trained with Italian pizza chefs. They make their own dough from scratch according to strict Italian traditions, it's slowly proven for a minimum of 24 hours, and hand-stretched to order. Pizzas are cooked in their wood-fired oven at over 400 degrees, resulting in a thin pizza which is soft in the middle and has a crispy, yet airy crust that's slightly charred for the authentic wood-fired flavour. Their tomato sauce is made fresh using the finest DOP San Marzano tomatoes from Naples, and they use real mozzarella and high quality italian salami.
