During May and June the three major global wine competitions (IWSC, DWWA, IWC), announce the results of their international competitions. The awards represent the culmination of countless hours of blind tasting and scoring, and set the global benchmark for fine wine competition.
The results of the International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC) are among the first to be made public and all six of our wines were awarded either Gold or Silver medals, a record for Gusbourne. The result is a true reflection of the commitment and craft that we apply to every facet of making every one of our wines.
Over and beyond this unprecedented achievement, our current release Gusbourne Blanc de Blancs (2010) and Gusbourne Blanc de Blancs Late Disgorged (2007), were both awarded 'Gold Outstanding’ medals. The ‘Gold Outstanding’ classification is the highest IWSC medal honour, granted solely at the discretion of the judging panel.
We are the only English wine producer to hold two Gold Outstanding medals from the IWSC, and both in the same year.
Ewan Lacey, General Manager of the IWSC, commented, "Our judges have been really impressed by the consistent high standard of wines produced by winemaker Charlie Holland and the Gusbourne team in Kent. The results speak for themselves, Gusbourne are producing world-class wines as judged by our international panel”.
